You’re not going to be attracted to every culture and country
Every place isn’t for you. Every country isn’t for you. Every culture isn’t for you and that’s okay. There are places in the world that I have no desire to visit, due to the circumstances within the country, their treatment of certain citizens or simply just not wanting to visit that country. Everything isn’t for everyone and that’s completely fine. Just being clear about who I am and what I value helps me to do decided where I want to spend my time in the world and where I don’t want to spend my time in the world.
Traveling is to do what you want to do, not what the world tells you you’re supposed to do
People travel for so many reasons. The main one is to see tourist’s attractions but there are many niche reasons why people travel as well. Some people travel for scenery, some travel to produce travel content, some travel for healing, some travel to taste food from different parts of the world. Some people travel for fashion. There’s no end to the reasons why anyone could travel and it’s not for anyone to decide where and why they want to travel.
Traveling doesn’t have to break the bank
I’ve heard many people cite money as the reason why they don’t travel. That’s understandable but traveling doesn’t have to break the bank. Sometimes, I well planned vacation, or trip can help reduce costs. With proper research, you may be surprised how a trip can equate to the cost of a few dinners out or a new pair of shoes. Traveling doesn’t have to break the bank if one is strategic.
Traveling can be a drag
As much as I love to travel, sometimes, it really isn’t the funniest thing on the planet. Between airport lines, dealing with TSA, going through customs, dealing the cultures clashing, rude people abroad, fighting stereotypes, not liking the quality of food in a country or just being flat-out bored, there are many reasons why travel can feel tedious and not worth it sometimes. And that’s ok. But the good outweighs the bad.
Traveling without intention might not be the best thing
If one is going to travel, it might be best to have an intention for doing so, otherwise, one is just wasting time and money. I’m not saying that one must follow a strict schedule or itinerary, but when deciding to visit another part of the world, knowing why you’re doing it can help to structure the trip and enjoy it rather than wondering why you’re there in the first place and feeling aimless. If you’re going somewhere just to relax, then do that. If you’re going somewhere to look at foreign animals, do that. Having a clear intention and purpose gives the trip meaning.
